Matinée Show: Antonio Hernando sings Ernie Graham
Green Note Ltd, Green Note, NW1 7AN , [Venue Details]In 1971, Ernie Graham released his only album, full of folk music, Irish sounds and Dylan & The Band vibes. Unfortunately, it sold poorly.
Ernie Graham came from Belfast, toured along the States with Jimi Hendrix and The Animals, hit the pubs during the pub rock scene and released a final single for Stiff Records thanks to his mentor and manager Dave Robinson. But he quit music in 1978, and his amazing songs remained in silence, dying in 2001 when Ernie Graham passed away after working on the railway the rest of his life.
Twenty-five years later, a singer songwriter from Spain, Antonio Hernando, has covered his only album. According to him, when he discovered Ernie’s music, he had an epiphany. He started to write a book about his story and his connections (Brinsley Schwarz, Help Yourself, pub rock, Eire Apparent, Henry McCullough, Van Morrison, etc) but as he also wanted to honour him on the date of his 25th anniversary passing away, he recorded Ernie’s songs to show the whole planet the name of his hero.
That is why on Saturday 13th June, at 13. 30 pm, Antonio and some of the musicians involved in Ernie Graham’s life will honour Ernie in an emotional and magical afternoon. This promises to be an emotional and magical gig – not to be missed!
